in 1901, the West Deer Park LIRR station was opened. To service the station, a spur was laid from the existing line from Long Island City to Huntington. The spur was used to transport bricks from the brickyards in Wyandanch to the LIRR station. Following the defeat of the West Deer Park and LIRR in an 1871 election, the spur was dismantled and the bricks were transported to the Walkers and Conklins brickyards in the same area. The brickyards were the only suppliers of high-quality, evenly-shaped, fireproof bricks on Long Island at the time. In 1888, Wyandanch Brick and Terra Cotta Corp. was organized on the site of the abandoned brickyard to produce bricks.

The spur was used to transport bricks from the brickyards in Wyandanch to the LIRR station. The brickyards were the only suppliers of high-quality, evenly-shaped, fireproof bricks on Long Island at the time. In 1888, Wyandanch Brick and Terra Cotta Corp. was organized on the site of the abandoned brickyard to produce bricks.[61] The brickyard closed in 1910, and the Wyandanch Railroad station was moved from its original location to the current location in 1938. The railroad station closed in 1988.[62]
