Kiriko, the daughter of a powerful elder ninja clan, encounters Raizo in a hospital, where he is wounded. She nurses him back to health and helps him learn his destiny. Kiriko gradually falls in love with Raizo, but he is forbidden from returning the feelings. In a mission to save the child she gave birth to while imprisoned, she is given a lead on Lord Ozunu's new location. When she attempts to actively search for him, she is then captured and interrogated about Kira, who is in the process of killing the fifteen missing ninja. Questioning fails, she is tortured and executed before being beheaded as a warning to others.
Japan is once again rocked by attacks from the mysterious organization (that witnessed the Kira murders) which are again led by Lord Ozunu. His ambitions are to eliminate all of those involved in the Kira crimes. Raizo, who is now well-known as "the lone ninja" in the city, trains himself to discover the identity of the rogue samurai - and finally learns the killer's identity of Kira himself.
The film is interspersed with flashbacks that highlight the childhood of Raizo and his clan. At the age of six, his father, Albert (also played by Kosugi), is murdered inside the family's dining home by an assassin. Albert was the sole defender of the real Kira, who had been falsely accused by Lord Ozunu of the crimes. Raizo knifes the assassin and is arrested by the police. There, he meets Kira, who is in confinement for her crimes as well. After bonding over their shared love of ninjutsu and the dangers of the world they live in, Kira swears to protect the young Raizo from criminals. In turn, Raizo vows to protect Kira from the killers of her family. Years later, Kira is released and celebrates by regaling banquet guests with a story about a vision of her past. From the dining hall, she witnesses the murder of Albert by an assassin through a window. The vision of her destiny proves to be prophetic, as after learning that Albert had protected Kira, she vows to avenge his death by hunting down and killing her killers. A few years later, in a sequence that takes place just moments after Albert's murder, Kira goes to retrieve her hidden blades and throws them at the assassin. d2c66b5586
