Alexander 2004 Movie 1080p Torrent

The Warner Brothers Ultimate Cut runs a mere 137 minutes, and the overall look hasn't changed much: the frenzied electric blue color palette, and the grainy film noir-style photography, particularly in the early scenes, are familiar to anyone who saw the movie in theaters or via the 2004 Cuts. However the Ultimate Cut now includes a short featurette detailing the editing process (via a voice-over by Joe Dante) that explores what Stone did to each of the original four episodes and offers insights into the dynamics of his relationship with each of his actors. This essentially justifies the purchase if you find the 2004 version appealing. The Ultimate Cut also preserves the opening sequence featuring the title character's childhood educators Sphinx and Antaeus, who appear in the original cut as well to key in on Alexander's more obviously autobiographical moments.

The movie's adult cast is impeccable: Liam Neeson(!) as Alexander's father Philip, Richard Harris as Alexander's mother Olympias, and Madeline Carroll as Alexander's lover, current queen of Egypt; a world-class team of actors who have been performing together for years. They all perform well, but the film's greatest strength is Oliver Stone's attention to the intimate details of his historically complex and unusually unbalanced characters. But when we get to the battle scenes, there are glaring problems; the battlefields are too wide and overly bright in the extreme, with too much detail of specific objects on the ground (a cluster of boulders, a roll of cloth, the position of a javelin, etc.) and the character's faces seem too small and too lethargic. It's a sign that some of the production team's confidence has evaporated since the release of the original cut, resulting in a war being depicted that is too grandiose. It's especially noticeable in the chariot scenes in particular, and in the transition from one battle to another. The five or six minutes it takes the camera team to zoom from one position to another is too long, and a host of jarring freezes and juddering stop-motions makes it hard to figure out what's going on. d2c66b5586
